Sibling Rivalry

These two are seriously like oil and water. It is so hard to have playtime around here. J wanted to do playdoh so I set him up behind a gate so G wouldn't mess with him. Well all G wants to do is what J is doing. So he is watching over the gate and "talking" Drives J crazy. I know this is a little mean to post but in 15 yrs when they are best buds it will be funny to remember! You will notice how cute G thinks he is by his expression at the very end!

Attention: Recall on R2D2 Playdoh

Mom:  "Honey, Why is your finger inside the playdoh lightsaber?"
C: "Well, you see, there was playdoh inside and I was trying to get it out, so I pushed my finger in there and then it got stuck."
Mom: "Oh really, let me see. (Pull) Hmmm yeah it seems to be stuck on pretty good."
C: "Ahhhhh, Mom!! don't pull it!"
Mom: "Well, C that is really the only way it is going to come off."

This went on for about an hour and a half while we tried cold water, PAM, butter, vaseline, and it wouldn't budge at all.  It wouldn't even spin.  So off to the ER we went.  We kept telling her if she didn't let is pull it off, she was going to have to go to the hospital and get a shot.  She actually wanted to go to the hospital.  I think she didn't believe us about the shot.  That girl, always looking for an adventure.  I mean, why would you have to get a shot for a stuck on toy!?  We just kind of threw the threat in there for shock effect.  I didn't really think she would be getting a shot!

So we arrive at the ER, not too busy.  We get some attention from the nurse case manager.  He tries cold water, vaseline, surgical scrub.  I tell him, "For what it's worth, we have tried all of that."  He tries anyways.  He tends to my daughters finger in the hospital public bathroom.  Guess all the rooms were full???  Then he gets some trauma shears and starts clipping the top of the toy off so he can get closer to the base where it is actually stuck.  I suggest a ring cutter, he tries with that but can't get the hook under the toy.

Just like on TV the doctor comes sweeping in to save the day.  He btw has a studded leather bracelet and necklace and his hands are shaking like he is on speed.  Not that I would know what that is like!  But seriously they were not the hands I would want operating on me in an emergency, let alone my baby girl!  He suggests they try bacitracin because it is "so much better."  He btw is not as gentle as mommy or mr nurse.  She starts crying and he brings in the big guns.  Lidocaine.  They give her a few shots on her finger, very traumatic.  Apparently when they use Lidocaine for a nerve block they have to administer the medicine s-l-o-w-l-y.  So imagine them leaving a needle in a already freaked out 4 yr olds finger, multiple times.  Yeah, not a happy camper.

Then they still couldn't pull it off.

So he tried to use the cast saw but couldn't get it to work, tried some  cast splitter thing and that didn't work.  Then I seriously think the guy said screw it, and jabbed that ring cutter under her very swollen finger all the while she is screaming bloody murder and cranked it down until it cut through the toy.  You would think it ended there but that only cracked it.  It was still stuck on her finger now it had a break in it.  Then he just yanked it off over her finger I saw her skin get drug through the little open and it wasn't pretty.  But it was finally off.
gave her some tylenol with codeine and sent her on her way with a ice pack.  It was very swollen and hurt looking and a bunch of skin got ripped off when they pulled forced the toy off.

She was very happy to be leaving the hospital and probably won't put a toy on her finger for a while.

Snowmeggedon

When we found out we were moving up here, I asked people if it snowed?  They said it would snow a few times a year and yes we would be able to make a snowman, but nothing crazy like Colorado snow.  I bought winter coats big, thinking we would get two years out of them, and laughed at myself when I bought snow pants and boots thinking what a waste of money.  They will probably use these all of once.  Well...I am so sick of those winter coats as soon as it is semi worn, they are going in boxes!  The snow boots are now in the shoe basket downstairs because they get worn so much and we have had enough snow in the last week for a lifetime...but...wait for it...more snow is coming!!!!  Yes up to 18 more inches of snow is expected to start falling tomorrow.  Oh my goodness.  Where is it all going to go?  Seriously.  We just got 25-30 inches of snow!!!!  Our power was out for two days, that was no fun.  We live on a snow evacuation route so our streets have been cleared and we even went to McDonald's for dinner the night of the big snow :)  The nights were miserable.  The second night it was 43 degrees when we woke up.  We have a fireplace but it is in the basement so we spent most of the day down there.  We thought about leaving but didn't think anyone would get any sleep if we went to a hotel.  3 kids, 2 adults, and 2 dogs in a hotel room didn't sound any better to us than 43 degrees in our own beds, so we stayed home.  The kids were serious troopers and never complained once about how cold it was.  I love those little munchkins.  We had a lot of fun and made some great memories.  Hotdogs and cinnamon apples cooked on the fireplace, 4 layers of clothing, sledding, lots of snuggling, lots of shoveling, snow dogs, Iphones to the rescue!!! and lots of texting to let everyone know we were okay :)  Thanks for checking on us everyone, we survived and are praying we keep our power tomorrow and the next day!  Pictures tell the story so here you go!

Look how much I got done!

G's album, ultrasound pictures

G's Album, revealing the pregnancy, pregnancy memories

G's album cover page

J's album 10 month layout
J-11 month layout

j-one year layout

J-birthday layout

and then i got sidetracked and made a cute v-day pillow!  Yeah!

I am mostly finished with J's album, just a little journaling to fill in.  I am still overwhelmed by how much more I have to do.  But I am leaving it set up for the most part and will try and do a layout here and there and hopefully get caught up eventually.  Ho Hum.  I am happy with what I did get done :)  It took longer than I thought especially the pages in G's book.  It always takes a while when the pictures are more abstract. The month layouts go really fast, i always have a bunch of pictures and the layouts come together nicely with the month being the title for the page.  Easy!  But the cover page always takes forever and the beginning pages I stuck on...  Have a great week!
